Happy Friday everyone! I hope you are all doing well. Today I figured I speak on a few things, namely how one keeps a level head when it comes to the stresses of creating. But first, I figure I do the usual promo of the Kickstarter we have running, then go from there.
The Sentinel #1 Kickstarter
As you all have heard, The Sentinel #1 is currently running on Kickstarter! Unfortunately for us, we suffered a major loss on the campaign that took us from 74% funded down to 54% funded overnight. We are still going strong despite that drop off and have 12 days left to get this project funded for printing; I would love to see everyone come together to get this funded as the creators have done a tremendous job creating an epic body of work. Stressed Out, Stressed Out, Stressed Out
Sorry for the Kendrick Lamar quote (favorite lyric from “Silent Hill”, on the album Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers), but lately things have been extremely stressful. I have been working nonstop on comics since I took my short beach trip a few weeks ago with my family. After launching this latest Kickstarter, I have began writing a new project that will be my first ever OGN (original graphic novel), edited a bunch of new projects, written a few issues of Magnus for Wise Acre Comics, and more. One would think that I am under a ton of stress as I still have a day job and family to spend time with, and you’d be right. The Kickstarter alone has me on edge as they days go by.
Fortunately for me, I have a great outlet for my many creative stresses. I think that it is very important for we as creatives to take breaks, or even relieve the stress of creating by doing something that doesn’t relate to our work whatsoever. Go out and take a walk, read a book, play a game, just remove yourself from creating temporarily to refuel yourself mentally. If you’re running a Kickstarter, doing WFH stuff for a publisher, or the anything in-between you know exactly how much stress can come with that side of creating. When you’ve got deadlines, DO NOT let it stress you out. If the stress is too much, talk to someone to work through things and rejuvenate yourself in order to do the best work possible.
Regardless of how many curveballs life throws you, do not get discouraged and let the stress of creating overtake you whether you do it as a hobby or career. Put yourself first and make sure to get right before continuing your work.
In Other News
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, I’ve got some more cool stuff to show you before I get back into the thick of things. If you’ve been following this newsletter from its inception you’ll know that we have a few comics in the pipeline, and for those that didn’t know, now you know. I’m very happy to announce that Epic Fantasy #0 is 75% completed! In our last newsletter, I showcased a few pages from Omega Mage, one of the three stories within this anthology styled comic. I’m happy to announce that we have gotten all 10 pages of another story back from our colorist friend, Melinda Timpone, last night! Enough talk, let’s get into a few colored pages of Atomix the Nuclear Man shall we?
I can’t wait for you all to see the final project, so these are off to be lettered by Isaac as we move into the next stage of production to create the last 6 pages of the book. That’s all for now, so stay safe and we will see you next month which bodes a Mighty surprise.
