Week 3 on Kickstarter Progress Report.
Welcome back folks. I’m here to talk progress on the current campaign and how to deal with the inevitable challenges that a creator can face with a crowdfunding campaign. Let’s get into it.
Week 3 of Magni’s campaign.
Not going to lie, it’s been a rough time since launching the latest campaign on Kickstarter. Not enough daily pledges have stalled things, as well as promotional activities on my own accords. This isn’t an uncommon situation, but a stark reality for creators who seek funding to create their comics.
There are a ton of different factors I could say are an obstacle for my own shortcoming with this relaunching of Magni the Mighty, after being on hiatus since its last kickstarter campaign failed in November of 2024 through my former publisher, Band of Bards. Lack of any promotion, no further updates aside from teasing this campaign , and I think with the current climate of crowdfunding people are selective with what they support depending on their activity on the platform from a backer perspective. Not that this is a problem for everyone, but when you don’t do promo for some time it’s essentially creative suicide to let things go by the wayside. Now, this isn’t placing blame on anyone but myself, as the Band of Bards guys did their best to help me move forward with things while under their publishing house. This is all on me.
My reality doesn’t allow me to create at a fast pace like some of my peers can, and it’s why there are gaps between when I get books out — and in this case, I could afford to finish half a book before placing this on Kickstarter to get the other half funded with all my supporters help. I often make promises to get more content out, but I’m just trying to motivate myself to get it done through hell or high water, even if I don’t have the funds to do so. Even putting things in perspective like my own personal enjoyment of being a reader I have to pick and choose between creating and enjoying books. Quite an exhausting experience honestly, but I am committed to brining these books to you by any means.
With that being said though, if for some reason this were to fail, then I would take a break to finish it in the background before continuing. Even more so, just releasing it via substack since it’s clear Kickstarter isn’t where it belongs right now. Maybe in the future it’ll see a physical release in a completed format, but it’s unlikely to happen unless a miracle occurs funding wise. I do truly appreciate all the support that has come from you all, as I couldn’t do it without you. So keep sharing, adding extra funds to your pledges, and whatever else we can do to ride this out into the next steps. Thanks again.

I'm too new to this game to offer any kind of advice, but I can say thank you for expressing what many of us are feeling trying to find out how we fit in on this platform.
